MTV VMA nomination shortlist: Lady Gaga is OUT, but One Direction and The Wanted are IN
The fact that both One Direction and The Wanted are nominated for awards hasn't appeased furious Gaga fans over her ceremony 'snub'
Still, she'll be keeping herself busy as she's currently preparing for the European leg of her 'Born This Way Ball' tour and is working on a new album due for release in 2013.
So, before you decide to boycott the entire shindig in protest, bear this in mind - both One Direction and The Wanted have been nominated! They're going head to head for the Best New Artist award which is just about as exciting as British boyband news gets.
BIG
They're up against Fun., Carly Rae Jepsen and Frank Ocean.1D are also in the running for the Best Pop Video category for their single 'What Makes You Beautiful'.
And the best news of all? 1D will be performing in all their chiselled cheek-boned, we're-still-not-sure-fancying-them-is-acceptable glory. Be still our beating ovaries.
And in other, slightly less exciting (to us) news, Rihanna and Drake have racked up five nominations each, including a joint Video Of The Year nomination for their duet 'Take Care'.
Alicia Keys will be premiering a new song from her upcoming album and said, "Debuting a new song at the VMAs is definitely special. It's the perfect setting. It's the right energy. It's the right vibe. I can't wait!"
You know what we can't wait for? Our personalised One Direction ogling goggles to arrive in time for the ceremony on September 6. Sorry Gaga, there will be no boycotting from us.
Jo Calderone doesn't look too bothered about the 'snub
