Sokoto Deputy Governor’s Son Dies In Car Accident.. RIP Lukman Shagari.

Lukman Shagari, one of the sons of Sokoto State's deputy Governor, Alhaji Mukthar Shagari met his untimely death on Thursday afternoon.
Lukman died in a fatal car accident while travelling from Abuja to Sokoto.
Sources revealed that Lukman lost control of the car he was driving. The car somersaulted several times before catching fire.
The impact of the fire eventually killed two out of the 3 occupants of the car.
We learnt Lukman who is based in London, UK visited his family in Abuja before heading down to Sokoto to see his father.
Only one out of the three occupants of the accident car survived.
Lukman is survived by his wife and a newborn baby.

The two music stars will be the host of a new TV talk show which will air on Mo Abudu's lifestyle cable channel, Ebony LIfe TV.

I hear the show will be centered around Tiwa and Banky W discussing several topical issues like gay rights, cheating, corruption, religious issues, the entertainment industry etc and will invite their friends and guests to join them in discussing these issues. The show will be similar to popular US talk show, The View.

The name of the show isn't yet made public, hmmm let's wait and see *fingers crossed* :)

Beat FM On-Air-Personality Toolz was picked as the Glo X Factor presenter over Michelle Dede, Mo Abebe, Isio Wanogho, Matilda Obaseki, Ebuka Obi Uchendu and Femi Branch.

Former Derby County, Plymouth and Inter Milan defender Taribo West has been accused of lying about his age.
The former Nigeria centre half, now retired, joined Serbian team Partizan Belgrade in 2002 after leaving Derby County and told club bosses he was 28.
But now the ex-president of Partizan, Zarko Zecevic, has accused him of lying, saying the defender was actually 40.




'He joined us saying he was 28. We only later found out he was 40, but he was still playing well so I don't regret having him on the team,' Zecevic said.
But according to the Croatian media, the former defender known for his colourful hairstyles also lied when trying to join Croatia's Rijeka club.
At the age of 44, they said West told club doctors he was only 32.
It was only after an examination that the doctors raised suspicions with the club because West's knees suggested he was older.
He wasn't signed to the team but later joined Plymouth and then Iranian side Paykan FC, where he ended his career at the age of 46 in 2008.
Today his Wikipedia entry says he is 39.

Moses Obi-Adigwe has become the first male contestant to emerge winner of the third season of Nigeria's most-viewed TV reality show, the Nigerian Idol! Church responds to Solomon Akiyesi's disrupted wedding

Overcomers World Outreach, the church where Nollywood actor, Solomon Akiyesi attempted to marry another while still legally married, has responded to the incident that happened yesterday. See their statement below, written by Chika Moses, who is a journalist and the daughter of Bishop N.E. Moses, the General Overseer of the Overcomers Church.

What was meant to be a day of celebration – the wedding ceremony of one of our members Uloma Agwu to Mr. Solomon Akiyesi at the Overcomers Church World Outreach in Aguda – was sullied by an ugly incident. Immediately following the praise and worship session and before the officiating commenced, a woman who claims to be the lawful wife of the groom disrupted the ceremony. She was accompanied by people who sought only to wreck havoc in the church. They were unruly and violent.

We regret the ugly series of events that followed this brash display. At the Overcomers Church, we do our due diligence to ensure a couple set to wed is right in the eyes of the law and in the eyes of God. To the best of our knowledge, Mr. Akiyesi, was unmarried. The Overcomers Church World Outreach regrets that the woman who disrupted the wedding chose such a time to do so. There is no ideal situation here, but it would have been right that she bring the case before church officials in a manner befitting a house of worship. This was not the case.

The groom, Mr. Akiyesi, has apologized to the Church, his bride-to-be, Ms. Agwu, and family and friends that gathered for the wedding. “This happened because I tried to cut corners,” he said. He admits he did not properly dissolve his previous marriage to his first wife and says he is determined to do what is necessary to rectify the awful situation. We apologize for the ugly scene this caused at our Church and apologize to those who witnessed it. It is not exemplary behavior and not who we are as a Church.

The General Overseer of the Overcomers Church World Outreach, Bishop N.E. Moses, addressed the congregation after order was restored.

Bishop Moses prayed for the couple, Mr. Akiyesi and Ms. Agwu, but he did not legally wed them – no documents were signed so as not to disobey the law. Mr. Solomon Akiyesi and Ms Uloma Agwu will not be legally joined together until the matter is properly settled by lawful authorities.

Our Bishop has urged us to take a lesson from this and be careful of the decisions we make in life, so the consequences don’t hurt us in the future. It is a lesson we take well.
We stand by Ms. Agwu. She has been a dedicated member of the church and we will continue to support her and Mr. Akiyesi. It is our hope and prayer that in all of this, God is glorified and His house of worship above reproach.

In a country where people habitually lie about such mundane things as age, it is easy to understand why transparency in governance is so difficult for our public officers. Many civil servants for instance have two ages- the real age and the official. The official age is often backed by sworn affidavit, a legal authentication of falsehood and is usually far lower than the real age. This is done to fraudulently elongate the length of service in government employment and also, in some cases, beat mandatory retirement dates.

Is this what happens at Bowen University???

Someone tweeted this photo and said this is how undergraduates who go to church late at his school, Bowen (Private) University are treated. Is this True?
